What is web check-in?
Web check-in is the process of confirming your flight online, from 48 hours before departure down to about an hour before. You get a digital boarding pass, pick a seat (free or paid depending on the airline), and skip the airport check-in counter. You still have to drop luggage at bag drop and clear security.

What is web check-in?
Web check-in is the process of confirming your flight online before you reach the airport. You get your boarding pass on your phone or email, skip the airport check-in counter, and go straight to security or bag drop if you have luggage to deposit.
When does web check-in open for Indian airlines?
Most Indian airlines open web check-in 48 hours before departure. IndiGo opens 48 hours for domestic but only 24 hours for international. Air India and SpiceJet open at 48 hours for both. Akasa Air flies domestic only and opens at 48 hours. See the timing table on this page for exact close times.
Can I web check-in via Yatra, Goibibo or MakeMyTrip?
No. OTAs cannot check you in. You must go directly to the airline's website or app using the PNR they gave you. Find your airline PNR in your OTA booking confirmation email, then head to the airline's own check-in page.
What is the difference between web check-in and app check-in?
They do the same thing, but the airline app is usually more reliable. If the website fails (common on IndiGo during peak times), try the app with the same PNR and last name. Your boarding pass can be saved to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet from the app.
What happens if I miss the web check-in window?
You can still check in at the airport counter, but you may have to arrive earlier and pay for baggage tags in person. Some airlines charge a small counter fee for domestic sectors. Arrive at least 90 minutes before departure for domestic and 3 hours for international.
What is the flight check-in window for Indian airlines?
Flight check-in windows vary slightly by airline. Most Indian carriers open the web check-in window 48 hours before scheduled departure and close it between 60 minutes (domestic) and 2 hours (international) before the flight. Why does IndiGo open international web check-in only 24 hours before?
Unlike most Indian airlines, IndiGo caps international web check-in at a 24-hour window (vs 48 hours for domestic). If your IndiGo international flight is more than 24 hours away, the system will tell you it is not yet available. Come back within the window.
Can I do web check-in for codeshare flights?
Usually not. IndiGo, Air India and Akasa all block web check-in for codeshare flights (where the operating airline is different from the airline you booked with). You will need to check in at the airport counter with the operating airline.
