Vietnam Airlines LotusDay: 50% Off Award Tickets, India Routes Included
Vietnam Airlines is halving the miles needed for award tickets until 31 October, on peak dates as well as regular ones. India routes are included, which puts a business class return to Vietnam at 60,000 Lotusmiles and Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City in business at 14,000.
Vietnam Airlines is running a promotion called LotusDay that takes 50% off the miles needed for an award ticket. Tickets have to be issued between 20 August and 31 October 2026, and flown by 31 December 2026.
Two things make this one worth reading past the headline. India is not on the exclusion list, and the discount applies on peak dates as well as regular ones. Award discounts almost always carve out the busy season, which is exactly when people want to fly.

What India Routes Cost Now
Vietnam Airlines flies to Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Kolkata and Hyderabad, into Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. The award chart prices by country band rather than by city pair, so every one of those routes costs the same.

Double those for a return. A business class return from any of the five Indian cities to Vietnam lands at 60,000 Lotusmiles in regular season, and 75,000 if both legs fall on peak dates.
The Domestic Vietnam Numbers Are the Sleeper
Most people book the long flight and then pay cash for the hops inside Vietnam. That is the part worth reconsidering here, because the domestic chart is split by distance and both bands are now very cheap.

The short band covers Hanoi to Da Nang or Hue, and Ho Chi Minh City to Da Nang, Da Lat, Nha Trang or Phu Quoc. The longer band is where Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City sits, which is the trunk route almost every itinerary touches.
Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City in business class for 14,000 miles is the line I would point someone at first. It is a two hour flight in a proper seat for less than a third of what the India leg costs. If you are piecing together a multi-city trip, this is also where an open jaw earns its keep: fly into Hanoi, work your way south by air on cheap awards, and fly home out of Ho Chi Minh City.
Where the Peak Dates Fall
Peak still costs more than regular, the discount just applies to both. The India routes have published peak windows, and they are set per direction rather than per route, so your outbound and your return are judged against different calendars.
Inside the LotusDay travel period, flying from India to Vietnam is peak on 1 to 3 October, 5 to 12 November, and 19 to 31 December 2026. Coming back from Vietnam to India is peak on 20 to 23 August, 4 to 7 October, 8 to 15 November, and 24 to 31 December 2026.
Read those two lists side by side and the gaps are the useful part. A return over the first week of October can be peak going out and regular coming back, or the reverse, depending on which days you pick. Most programmes apply peak to the whole itinerary, so this is not a habit people have.
The Fine Print That Actually Matters
LotusDay covers newly issued award tickets on flights operated by Vietnam Airlines with VN flight numbers. Partner redemptions across SkyTeam are not included, so this is not the promotion to use for a Korean Air or Air France booking.
Excluded routes are Vietnam to France, Germany, the UK, Australia and the United States. Everything else is eligible, which includes all of Southeast Asia, Japan, Korea, China and India. Business, Premium Economy and Economy all qualify, with one exception: the Vietnam to Italy route is limited to Premium Economy and Economy.
You can mix a promotional flight with a flight outside the promotion in the same booking, with the second one priced at the standard rate. It cannot be stacked with other Vietnam Airlines mileage discount promotions.
How to Get the Miles

Run the two together and a business class return to Vietnam works out at roughly 42,860 Mag Miles, with economy near 17,860. One promotion increases what your Mag Miles convert into, the other reduces what a seat costs, and they are independent of each other.
