HDFC PIXEL Go Credit Card Review: 1% Cashback, No Frills, Easy Approval
The HDFC PIXEL Go gives you 1% unlimited cashback on everything, 5% on SmartBuy, and costs just Rs.250 a year. It is the easiest HDFC card to get, with an FD-backed option for anyone without income proof.
The PIXEL Go is the entry-level card in HDFC's PIXEL lineup. Where the PIXEL Play lets you pick category packs for 5% cashback, the PIXEL Go strips all of that away and gives you a flat 1% on everything. No categories to choose, no merchants to track, no decisions to make.
The card costs Rs.250 a year, needs just Rs.12,000 monthly income to qualify, and is available as an FD-backed card through PayZapp for anyone without income proof or credit history. If you want a simple, low-cost card that puts cashback on your statement without any setup, this is it.
The trade-off? No lounge access, no insurance, no elevated rates on Amazon or Flipkart, and no category customization. The PIXEL Go is deliberately simple, and it works best for people who want exactly that.

Fees, Welcome Benefit, and Fee Waiver
| Details | |
|---|---|
| Joining Fee | Rs.250 + taxes |
| Annual Fee | Rs.250 + taxes (from year 2) |
| Joining Fee Waiver | Spend Rs.10,000 within 90 days of issuance |
| Annual Fee Waiver | Spend Rs.50,000 annually |
| Add-on Card |
Rs.250 is about as low as annual fees get on a rewards card. The joining fee gets waived if you spend Rs.10,000 in 90 days, which works out to roughly Rs.3,300 per month. The renewal fee waiver kicks in at Rs.50,000 annual spend. Both thresholds are well within daily spending range for most people.
There are no welcome bonus points or vouchers. The welcome benefit is simply the fee waiver itself.
How You Earn Cashback
| Category | Rate | Description |
|---|---|---|
| SmartBuy | 5% CashBack | On eligible HDFC SmartBuy transactions |
| UPI Spends (RuPay only) | 1% CashBack | Only for RuPay variant |
| All Eligible Spends | 1% CashBack | Unlimited on everything else |
The earning structure is straightforward. Everything eligible earns 1% cashback, credited directly to your statement. There are no points to manage, no portals to visit, no redemption hoops.
SmartBuy transactions earn 5%, which is the same rate that most HDFC cards offer on that platform. If you are already booking flights or hotels through SmartBuy, the PIXEL Go gives you a solid return there.
The RuPay variant adds 1% cashback on UPI transactions. If you use UPI frequently and want to earn something on those payments, pick the RuPay variant over Visa.
Unlike the PIXEL Play, there are no choice packs, no 5% merchant categories, and no 3% on Amazon or Flipkart. The PIXEL Go earns the same rate everywhere, which is simpler but also means you leave value on the table if most of your spending is concentrated in specific categories.
Swiggy Dineout Savings
PIXEL Go cardholders get up to 10% savings on restaurant bills through Swiggy Dineout. This is a dining-specific perk that sits outside the cashback structure and applies when you pay at participating restaurants through the Swiggy Dineout network.
What Does NOT Earn Cashback
| Category | Notes |
|---|---|
| Fuel | All fuel spends excluded |
| EMI | All EMI types excluded |
| Wallet (MCC 6540) | Wallet loading excluded |
| Rent (MCC 6513) | Rent excluded |
| Government/Tax | Tax payments, fines, postal services |
| Cash Advance | |
| Fees & Charges |
Standard HDFC exclusion list. Fuel, rent, wallet loads, government payments, EMI, and cash advances all earn zero cashback. This is the same across most HDFC cards including the PIXEL Play and Millennia.
Redemption
There is nothing to redeem. Cashback is automatically credited to your statement. No points balance, no catalogue, no transfer partners, no minimum threshold, no expiry. You spend, the cashback appears.

Lounge Access
None. No domestic, no international. If lounge access matters, look at the HDFC Millennia (milestone-based) or move up to the Regalia tier.
Fuel Surcharge Waiver
| Waiver | Min Transaction | Max Transaction | Cap per Cycle |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1% | Rs.400 | Rs.5,000 | Rs.250 per statement cycle |
Standard HDFC fuel surcharge waiver. Fuel spends earn zero cashback, so this waiver is the only benefit at fuel stations. There is also a 1% + GST surcharge on fuel transactions above Rs.15,000.
Surcharges
Apart from the fuel surcharge mentioned above, there is a 1% + GST railway surcharge on IRCTC ticket purchases.
Forex and International Use
The foreign currency markup is 3.5% plus GST. This is not a card for international spending. If you travel abroad, consider a zero-forex option instead. For HDFC cardholders making occasional international transactions, the HDFC Global Value Program add-on can help offset some of the markup.
Eligibility
| Requirement | |
|---|---|
| Salaried | Monthly income Rs.12,000+, age 21-60 |
| Self-employed | ITR > Rs.6 lakh/year, age 21-65 |
| FD-backed | No income proof needed, up to 90% of FD as credit limit |
The Rs.12,000 monthly income requirement is one of the lowest across HDFC's card range. Compare that to the PIXEL Play's Rs.25,000 requirement, and you can see this card is designed for a wider audience.
The FD-backed option works the same way as on the PIXEL Play: apply through PayZapp with a fixed deposit, and get up to 90% of your FD amount as your credit limit. No income proof, no credit history needed. This makes the PIXEL Go one of the most accessible credit cards available for first-time users.
The entire application and card management happens through the PayZapp app. You can apply for instant approval, manage card controls, convert to EMI, view statements, and raise disputes from the app.
PIXEL Go vs PIXEL Play
Since both cards are in the same PIXEL family, the comparison is worth spelling out.
| PIXEL Go | PIXEL Play | |
|---|---|---|
| Annual Fee | Rs.250 | Rs.500 |
| Fee Waiver | Rs.50,000/year | Rs.1,00,000/year |
| Base Cashback | 1% | 1% |
| Category Packs (5%) | ✗ | ✓ (pick 2 of 5) |
| Amazon/Flipkart | 1% | 3% |
| SmartBuy | 5% | 5% |
| UPI (RuPay) | 1% | 1% |
| Swiggy Dineout | Up to 10% | ✗ |
| Income Requirement | Rs.12,000/month | Rs.25,000/month |
| Lounge Access | ✗ | ✗ |
If you spend enough on specific categories to justify the higher fee and waiver threshold, the PIXEL Play gives you significantly better returns with its 5% packs and 3% on Amazon and Flipkart. If you want the simplest possible card with the lowest barrier to entry, the PIXEL Go does the job.
The Verdict
The PIXEL Go is not trying to compete with cards that offer elevated category rates or lounge access. It is a straightforward 1% cashback card with a low fee, low income requirement, and zero complexity. You get your cashback on every statement without thinking about it.
For first-time cardholders, the FD-backed option and Rs.12,000 income requirement make this one of the easiest ways to start building credit history while earning something back. For existing cardholders, the PIXEL Go works as a simple backup card that earns 1% on everything your primary card excludes.
Don't have the card yet? You can still earn airline miles on everyday spending by buying gift cards through the Magnify app. No premium card needed, UPI works.
