Flying Blue Promo Rewards: How It Works and Why Indians Should Care
Flying Blue runs monthly promos with 25% off award flights. India is rarely included, which makes it a big deal when it happens. Here's how to take advantage.
Flying Blue is the loyalty program for Air France and KLM. Every month, they run a promotion called Promo Rewards where they pick a handful of origin cities and offer 25% off on award flights to select destinations.
If you're sitting on Flying Blue miles or credit card points that transfer to Flying Blue, this is one of the best ways to stretch your points further.
How Promo Rewards Works
Each month, Flying Blue announces a new batch of discounted routes. The pattern is usually:
- Discount: 25% off the standard award price
- Booking window: About 4 weeks from announcement
- Travel window: Usually 5-6 months out
- Classes: Sometimes economy only, sometimes business too
The destinations are typically Europe and America. These regions show up in almost every promo.
Why Indians Should Pay Attention
Here's the thing. India is rarely included in Promo Rewards.
Flying Blue operates 45 weekly flights to India across four cities: Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru. But despite this presence, Indian origins don't make it into the monthly promos very often.
The last time India was included was June 2025. So when an Indian city does show up, it's worth acting on.
The Math When India is Included
Let's say Mumbai to Paris normally costs 30,000 Flying Blue miles one-way in economy. With Promo Rewards, that drops to 22,500 miles.

The same discount applies to return flights. So a round trip to Europe comes down to 45,000 miles total instead of 60,000.
Taxes run about ₹7,000 to ₹8,000 per leg, so you're looking at around ₹14,000 to ₹16,000 for a return trip. Add the miles, and you have a very affordable way to get to Europe.
How to Find the Deals
Flying Blue announces Promo Rewards on their website and app around the first week of each month. You can also sign up for their newsletter to get notified.
When a promo goes live and India is included, check availability early. The discounted seats are limited, and popular routes fill up fast. The best availability tends to be on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and for travel during shoulder season.
How to Earn Flying Blue Miles
A few ways to build your balance:
Credit card transfers. HDFC and Axis Bank both allow transfers to Flying Blue. The ratios vary by card. Some cards give you 1:1, others are less favourable.
If you want to see all the cards that transfer to Flying Blue and their exact ratios, the Magnify app shows this in one place. Helps you figure out how many points you actually need.
Flying SkyTeam. Air France, KLM, Vietnam Airlines, and other SkyTeam airlines credit miles to Flying Blue. If you've flown any of these, check your account.
Transfer bonuses. Flying Blue occasionally runs bonuses where you get extra miles when transferring from partner banks. These are worth waiting for if you're not in a hurry.
Watch the Expiry
Flying Blue miles expire after 24 months of inactivity. Any earning or redemption activity resets the clock, so they're easy to keep alive as long as you stay active.

The Bottom Line
Flying Blue Promo Rewards runs every month, but India is rarely on the list. When it is, the 25% discount to Europe is worth jumping on.
We'll cover it here whenever India makes the cut.
